[Leather working] Edge burnisher : the big mecanical one

I wrote an article on my web site presenting three kinds of edge burnishers for lather working.
La Belle Note - Edge burnishers

Here is the third one, a larger spindle to be used on a drill press, see a lathe :

Here is a version of the large diameter burnisher, mounted on a 6mm axis, intended to be used on a drill press.
This burnisher can handle larger and more intense parts.
The top can be used flat to soften the underside of a strap for example.

Leatherwork being one of my pastimes, I am always interested in new trends for the time honored methods that leather workers have used through the years. Although we have lost most all of our shop tools in the 11' storm surge we had in Sept. when Hurricane Michael passed our way, I will have this in my electronic "files" for future reference. I still use a few of the hand burnishing methods but, as I expand my interests, i will need something such as this to handle larger work and larger leather pieces. I am limited at this point to designing and making knife sheaths and I am doing a limited amount of holster work. Finances and age are both limiting factors to my expanding into other lines as I do not have a shop to work in now. But time will tell .......

I'm sorry for your loss of your shop, it's something that would drive me crazy.
Leather work can be done fortunately with a small amount of tooling investment, but that's true that Vegetable Leather is quite expensive...
    Cheers !
