It is hard wired 3 phase 220 volt. I don't see a need for variable speed for what I'm doing.

Nice, well thought out build with plenty of Giddy-up (3HP)! Thanks for sharing this with us garycullen! Nice to be able to work from a platen and a wheel without changing setups. Are those 2x72 standard belts? Also is that "T-Handle in the tension wheel a tracking adjuster?

Again, Very Nice build and thanks for sharing. ~PJ

I have a good phase converter. The 3 H.P. motor only draws 7.7 amps, on 440 Volt is 3.6 amps but I don't have that. Keeps the power bill low.

It took some thinking of what to do with that as It had a 2" wide x 12" dia. grinding wheel on one side and a 2" wide x 12"dia. wicked wire wheel on the other side. My friend offered it to me 1-1/2 years ago but I knew I would never use it like it was. I was looking on knife making websites and I love knives but I need to make a living but I can use it to de-burr parts and I will use it for fabrication. I built a Rotary Small Wheel Attachment (I posted it on here and won tool of the week which I am very proud of!) first on another grinder I made so I can do smaller radius on parts and only had a Cone-Loc 8" sander. The reason I built two set-ups is the reason you stated. I don't want to have to change everything around as parts will require both the D-Platen and the round wheel at the same time. It does take 2" x 72" belts and finally the T-bolt is just a long 1/4-20 bolt with a piece of 3/8" round rod welded to it and yes it is for adjusting the tracking. It looks pretty because I black oxided it as I blacken parts all the time. Thank you for the nice comments. I added a double work light last weekend and I have some L-Shaped plexiglass left over covers and I am going to make a guard that will just drop in place on either side so I don't run into the belt. OUCH!

Thank you sir! It runs great. I've added some plexiglass covers, dust collector and lights.
