Lower support is made of lead...maybe.

Lead or gallium or something soft. Gauge barely registers...interesting stutter in the video before the base deforms. Also the raised lip on the base seems odd.

True, but..
I tried to break a 1/4" Zirconium oxide ceramic bearing ball by hammering it on a piece of mild steel.
It never broke and imbedded fully into the steel.

Granted not a St.R drop but I was impressed...
a Sphere is a tough nut to crack in many materials. I would have tried freezing the ZrO2 with dry ice then hit it with a chisel. It is impressive that it dented the ball pein and embedded in the mild steel.

Gauge registered some considerable pressure only when the hammer touched the lead base...!
Not sure I would consider that "Considerable" and can't read the gauge from Iowa....or California.Perhaps you have a better view from Europe?

Different GIF, same source. A bullet shatters on the Rupert's drop, and then the drop shatters apparently due to vibration.
