Well I thought I joined yesterday , but today it says that I have to re register so here goes trial number two. I love tools, love everything about them. I have been collecting for over 45 years!. I enjoy carpentry, metalwork, welding, automotive, plumbing among many things. I guess working with my hands is the real joy. I dont have any current needs for homemade tools, other than perhaps some new hydraulic bearing press plates, but I think I have that covered. I made a homemade tool last week out of necessity that I was thrilled with. I had a plumbing problem from my kitchen sink to the grease trap at my residence. Turned out to be a grease plug about 12 feet under the house. No chemicals worked, no snakes worked, and no series of boiling water combined with other previous attempts worked. I build a custom plumbing snake using 1/2 in pvc pipe. On one end I found a hole saw that just bareley fit over the OD of the pipe, and used electrical tape to secure. This will be the driving end of my new snake, where I can attach a cordless drill. The other end I found an old adapter to 3/4 and attached a 3/4 in coupler. Carved the coupler to have a cutting shape. Then drilled holes into the tip of my new auger and installed 14in sections of weedeater string, to make flapping string cutters to clean the inside of the pipe. The PVC snake had plenty of flexibility to make the required bends, but remained stiff enough to control the cutting head and it just worked magic. I was so proud!
I just completed construction of my new dream workshop of 3000 sq ft inside and 1800 lean to. My focus for well over a year will be to move in, get organized, overhaul tools like old saws, electrify by shop and just organize everything. Its a daunting task1
