Axle nut sockets
At one time or another I have probably made almost every style shape and size of the axle nut sockets.
I know that I left at least 50 of these with my stuff that I took to Kuwait in 2003 but that doesn't matter because I have made and given away dozens of them to vehicle owners and friends.
Most are very simple to make , all you need is one or two of the axle nuts a vice a torch, a hammer, and some scrap. Additionally if you have a welder it makes the job go faster but I have welded several up using my torch
Clamp the nut and a piece of flat bar in the vice beginning with 1 flat then heat the flat bar and bend it around the next flat continue this until you have gone all the way around the nut re-positioning the pieces in the vice as needed. weld an end plate to one end to form a socket now everyone has broken a 1/2" or 3'4" drive socket at one time or another "NEVER THROW THEM AWAY" they still have possibilities for new lives.

Thanks for posting this. This is how I imagined one would go about making an axle nut socket.
