After all of the time and trouble someone went through to inflate and string the balloons together they are reduced to shards of latex in mere seconds. Hardly seems fair does it.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

We lived in Shanghai during the time that fireworks went from being legal to illegal. Air pollution was the "reason" given for banning fireworks, and likely the mess as well. Bad polluting factories and millions of cars, heavy trucks, etc were ignored though.... the irony. 1 day of fireworks vs 365 days of factories and automotive.

It's interesting to see the progression to this balloon popping machine to generate the effect of fireworks... no air pollution directly, but certainly mess on the ground, and latex is much harder to sweep up.
The noise generated by fireworks, and now these balloons popping is meant to scare off the bad spirits/ghosts and welcome good luck into the family. Typically done during various holidays, weddings, etc.

Great thinking Frank. If it is the noise that drives the evil away just synthesise it, or record a string of firecrackers.

Ahha, a new use for fone-farking millenials. They can be used as weights.

In college we used to play a little game to hone our creative thinking abilities. The task was to think of something that existed and has no possible use. Doorstops and other "uses" that depended only on the weight of the object were not permitted. Now, with the advent of F^3 millenials, I suppose the game would be just too easy. OTOH, do college students still engage in activities designed to hone their thinking ability?

This one made me think about a basic pull-through machine to destroy Amazon bubble cushioning packaging, wall-mounted over a garbage can. Now, I either pop each large bubble with my hands (my dog hates this), or I run a blade over the whole length.

I am noticing a lot of dud balloons. They must have been blown up wrong.
