I've gone for the repair approach to my BBQ rather than building from scratch, it needed a lot of work. Should have it finished in the next couple of weekends.

Wow, what a world of difference between the before and after. Looks better than store-bought and the diagonal webbing is a nice design touch.
Cheers Paul, the shelf was originally going to be a weave but the metal was solid enough that I could get away with the simpler design. My key requirement was that it was not solid so that water would not pool on it as had happened for the earlier design. The barrel has some large drainage holes in it for similar reasons.
