    Bowie style knife

I made this for my father in 1960 and Marvs post on renaissance wax has prompted me to unearth it and clean it up a bit. It is made from a sidecar leaf spring with aluminium bolster and pommel, the handle is made of copper/brass and fibre discs, I also experimented with acid etching which did not turn out that well. It was made in a garden shed with hand tools only and a carpenters vice, I had quite a time doing this in secret before presenting it to him as a birthday present.
It is 12 inches overall and was intended as a decorative piece as I had no means of heat treatment at the time.
He was very pleased with it as he loved all things American and had at the time an Indian and a Harley Davidson.
Time to get some of that wax.

True masterpiece. Especially considering use of hand tools only. Does it require permit to carry it.
    Thanks for sharing.

    thanks for the comment,
In the UK the largest knife that can be carried in public is a 3 inch folding pocket type, and if stopped you will need a reason for having it.

This piece of art is truly a gifted item You are blessed in many ways. There are blacksmiths (like myself) out there who cannot accomplish your talent
    even with expensive equipment.

Wow, that is truly a beautiful knife. I don't generally care for them, as I prefer multi-tools, but yours really caught my eye!
