I made this little hammer for adjusting work in the lathe chuck, seating parts in the mill vise Etc. It's just an all around light tapping hammer for whatever, I have for a long time just used a 1" diameter piece of brass about 3" long with no handle just to bump something lightly, So I decided to make something a little more appropriate.
The head weighs 6oz. and made from 1" diameter 360 round brass, the handle is made from 5/8" diameter 303 stainless steel round with a medium knurl, the knurled end of the handle is drilled 3/8" diameter X 3.5" deep, this balanced the hammer very good, the handle screws into the head with a drop of Loctite, different heads could be made of lead, plastic, copper, Etc.
Below you will find some photos and a cad drawing of the completed hammer
as always, thanks for looking and happy machining
