Cast shoulder plane
I have made several planes over the years but this one has a story behind it. I was sick of hogging out soles, frogs and the like so I went in a different direction. Seems there is an Amish gentleman in Penn. that built a foundry on his farm to reproduce parts for his steam tractors. I contacted him and he agreed to pour some castings from my patterns. He is wonderful to work with and I have been very happy with the castings. He sends the parts with a bill(always less than the mtl. Cost of cold rolled), something unusual in this day, trust!
I have made several of these for friends.Attachment 26414Attachment 26415
