I just ordered this Black Oxide Kit from Caswell.

Does anyone have any experience with this kit? Sounds like it should work well, I guess I'll find out? :) I'll use it to finish the angle plate and louver press.
I'll post up results when I have them.

No experience with the black oxide, but have used their cad and zinc kit. Works well once you get the hang of it. Try it on some scraps first.

Check it out if you are thinking about trying it out. I am very pleased with the results other then I didn't clean the angle plate as well as I should have. The kit was very easy to use, just heed their directions to get everything very clean!

I'll add some more info to this thread.
I had a small rotary fixture I built years ago that was seeing some surface rust. I cleaned it up and gave it the Black oxide treatment.

After cleaning with Metal Ready and a piece of ScotchBrite. The Metal Ready cleans this up immediately! It doesn't take a lot a lot scrubbing to get rid of the rust.

I still had the mixed solution I used three weeks ago so I thought I would see if it was still good. It was! This pic was taken about 20 seconds after I dropped the part in!

And I have to think the solution really liked the way the Metal Ready cleaned up the steel because the reaction was nearly immediate!
After taking it out about a 2 minutes later. This is BLACK!

I also blackened the chuck. I couldn't get that as clean so the solution didn't work as well but I wanted to leave some oil in the mechanism so it wouldn't lock up.
