    Some how they missed the riggers class about jib needs to extend beyond farthest protrusion. End of GIF shows his disbelief. He weighs enough but either too short a ladder or street level too high. And his single sheave's no mechanical advantage other than change of direction.
    Some how they missed the riggers class alright.
    Amazes me how many get photos recorded, you know, intended for the boss. Not the surprise ending, no raise for you!

    What did they expect? the bag was probably a 35 or 42 Kg bag falling from that height the accumulated energy could have been 5 times the original weight.
    Never try to tell me it can't be done

    If not his spine it almost certainly tore the ligaments in his arms and shoulders.
    trying to catch that bag of cement falling from that height would be equal to trying to catch a 1000 lbs or more it would have hit him at around 20 Miles per hour after only falling from that distance
