Contact / Share buttons not a welcome "upgrade"

Is it possible to disable the annoying link bar that now crops up on the left side of the site?

Forced advertising is a real pain in the backside.

Well, it seems that the decision to keep this "upgrade" has been made.
Are you really going to persist in forcing these links on members?
If the answer is yes, please formally let us know. Some will elect to leave. Some may decide to stay.
Hard to make an informed decision in a vacuum.

The sharing buttons were turned off on forum pages a couple of weeks ago. Are you still seeing them here?

OK, understood. I've turned them off in the forum, but not on other parts of the site.

Thanks for that screenshot. I definitely don't like the social share buttons overlapping the tool card, and the new "Popular" tabs.

I've just now adjusted a setting such that the share buttons will be smaller. Refresh and let me know if you're seeing any difference.

Alright, I'll look further into this. I have a cross-browser testing tool I can use too. Another option is to display the social sharing buttons on the bottom of the page.
