    DIYer, carver

Hello all, I love to fix things and find other uses for products. I love wood. I have a small space for a shop and am learning wood carving. I will likely learn more about jig and scroll saws since they fit my space better than chop, circular or radial arm saws. Looking forward to sharing ideas and learning. Saving money is fun! Making something versatile is even better. Living in the Northwest USA, we have lots of rain and rust. So I pay special attention to rust prevention and cures.

Thank you! What I want is a powered carving knife sharpener. 15 or 12.5 degree angle. Seems I hate using a strop. I was thinking of an electric drill with a spinning wheel. Someone made one using a back massager. Yet I cannot figure out where he got the leather wheels used for stropping.
Next is a walking stick with a spirit man or Santa type face. Could be an elf.
I an currently making bench dogs, not happy with any so far. But they work and that is the purpose.

A lot of guys make their own leather wheels by cutting them out of a heavy piece of hard leather using large diameter hole saws in a drill press. after cutting several they mount them on a spindle with backing plates of a slightly smaller diameter on both sides
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

OK, we can help with that. Check out our Sharpening category: Homemade Sharpening Tools - HomemadeTools.net . Also here's a good strop link: Homemade Tools Search: strop - HomemadeTools.net
