Hello Captainleeward, I really like your solution,I have one of those drill presses with the open slot round tables as well, additionally I have one with a larger square table with the T slots milled in, both are floor models. The round one just like yours is a royal pain to try and clamp anything down on. the table in my opinion is too thin to actually use the slotted holes for much. So after I found a vice with built in X & Y movement I mounted it to that table to take care not to potentially break out the slots I used strips of 1/4 by 1 1/2 Flat bar as washers underneath. I use my other drill press for any thing that does not require a vice.
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

JJR2001 Hello and thanks for your kudos by the way my handle is captainleeward as in the leeward side of the island safe harbors ect. my first name is Ward and middle is Lee. You would be surprised how many people are named Ward. just some trivia. Ha ha. Cap.
