easy and cheap molds for small parts-img_0459.jpg

Sometimes hot glue and vaseline make good partners. When you need to secure a small part and cannot use screws because the piece is too small, hot glue can make a perfect mold. By coating the small part thoroughly with valseline and then dipping it in hot glue, and then waiting until the hot glue hardens, you can create a perfect mold for a secure fit. The piece will naturally come out without sticking.
As the picture illustrates, I am able to fit a small tactile switch in a small hole by using the hot glue and vaseline method. I don't even need to remove the switch, since the vaseline prevents the hot glue from entering the moving parts.
I have not tried using other types of lubricants, but I am sure the idea is the same.
