Forklift Trailer Hitch Plate
Simple hitch plate for forklift. Great for moving trailers. Also nice for lifting them up high for working on axles, wiring, or even loading without ramps.
Made from 6x2x3/8 rectangle tubing to slide on the forks and have welded 5/8” nuts for 5/8 bolts for set screws to lock hitch plate to fork tubes. These are connected with 8” channel. To the bottom side of the channel is 2.5”x3/16” square tubing for receiver tube. Also welded to the bottom side are 2 D rings for either safety chains or general lifting. On the back side of the channel, I welded about 3’ of ¼” chain with a hook on the end to secure hitch plate to the forklift to prevent it from sliding off while pulling trailer.
I opted for the receiver tube over welding balls to the top of the hitch plate. I have several ball mounts but the triball is really ideal for the tractor. I can move everything from small trailers to gooseneck trailers. I wanted to keep the top side of the channel flat for future expansion of a 5th wheel hitch.
