Grinder/Belt sander mod(ish)

Not strictly homemade as I combine off the shelf parts but there was a lot of work that went into this mod.
An 8" 1400RPM grinder was the base for this, a multitool belt sander was fitted on one side (new holes had to be tapped into the body of the grinder) and the stone was left on the other side. The stock grinding rests were replaced with larger plates that have mitre slots, the belt sander also has a dust collection box that sits underneath for use when sanding wood. The dust collection box is free standing allowing a belt change to be done in a few seconds. It collects a good part of the dust but isn't perfect, may change it in the future, we'll see.

Outstanding mods. Is that a disk sander plate on the left as well?

Good eye! Yes there is a plate that screws onto the drive wheel that you can stick a sanding disc onto. I have not done this on either of mine since it would be awkward to use them and I already have a 12" disc sander I can use.

No sir, no small pictures as usual. Just had the •attached thumbnails and it is not a valid link. I have had several instances where this has happened.

I like that it frees up space, did you make the grinding rest (larger plates) or purchased them if did not make where did you get them?

Yes it's a lot of function in a fairly small package. Plenty of power too, the grinder is 900W so you don't worry about stalling it.

The grinding rest comes with the multi tool grinder kit, it's designed to be used with the disc sander on the side but I didn't need this function. I had two grinders (you will see another on my variable speed grinder post) so that meant I had two tables to use, the one on the right is full sized, the one on the left was cut down to make the belt changes easier, that off cut of grinding rest was then fitted to my portable bandsaw to give me a cutting platform with mitre slot. Nothing goes to waste in my shop!
