threesixesinarow,
I also did an adaptation of the Unimat head stock.
I have adapters made to mount the Unimat head stock in vertical mode on my mini lathe and also it can mount horizontally on the cross slide to do drilling and slotting as for key ways.

Hi, Dick,
I saw your vertical adapter on the 7x12 Yahoo group—very smartly made! It looks very handy, especially combined with your other attachments for the mini lathe.
I have a simple, more or less horizontal adapter for mine but it only adjusts a little around center, and for most things it’s easier using a smaller watchmaker lathe grinding spindle where the motor is separate. I’d like to use the angle grinder motor powered Unimat for cross drilling in an upcoming project but first will need to find a way to prevent the 7x10 spindle from turning.
The drill is an older Taiwanese 5-speed with a “Bico” nameplate. It’s not very good.

threesixesinarow,
That is sure a neat little machining center you have put together. It looks to be very versatile. What is the X-Y cross slide taken from?
