Homemade 12" Bandsaw
I built this saw in 1995, yes 95 :) on the patio outside my apartment door. All my shop tools were in storage at the time so all I used was a jigsaw and Makita drill for power tools. I am an Operating Engineer so the adjustment handles are discarded valve handles and the few weldments used, I made at work. It is much heavier built but the inspiration came from a plan in an old Popular Mechanix magazine. The frame is built up from laminations of 3/4" plywood glued and each layer screwed to the preveous layer. It is solid I have said you could jack a house on it and it won't move. The wheels are 2 laminations of 3/4" plywood, trued and crowned after installation. Double plywood trunnions allow 45* of table tilt. The motor is a 1/2 HP Leeson and a sharp blade will resaw 2 X 6 lumber. Blade guide bearings are all adjustable in oval slots. I have a large 20" General but after putting over 20 years of wood through this saw I still prefer it for small work.

Love it! I feel like we might be kindred spirits. We are both engineers. We both posted homemade band saws and furnaces. You posted a belt sander and I am in the process of building one now.

Glad you liked it mr95gst, looking forward to seeing your sander.
