This is my home made wind turbine. It uses a washing machine motor as the generator made in Australia.
This wind turbine can produce up to 1 kilowatt of power when the wind is really blowing.
It has its own bank of battery's to charge.

I saw your solar panel setup first, and now this. So, what percentage is supplied by your alternative power?
Hi DIYer The Solar keeps my battery banks charged which i use for my computer, tv, sat, and 12 v lights in the house and garage.
I also powers my ham station and all my machines. So if there is a grid black out no problem for me!
I really like combination setups like yours. Have yet to cobble together my own due to factors like cost and variable weather patterns.
Hi DIYer, Well each climate and area of the U.>S.> has different challenges for solar or turbine.
I like Solar the best low maintenance and cheep. I just hung my panels on the side of the ham shack.
