Was turned on to this short video a while back, linked from a site showing a guitar-maker doing this. Truly old school

I know this is a to each his own sort of thing. To me I'm not one who cares for the look or intent of the immersing rifle stocks, wheel rims or most other things But especially rifle stocks to me it cheapens the rifle, just like changing out the furniture of a rifle for the plastic so called assault look
Now that marbled paper video was interesting.
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Thank You bruce.desertrat! That was an outstanding documentary and had no idea that it was that old a craft. True artisans and maintaining and restoring old books is near and dear to me. Have a few turn of the century first and second editions that I cherish, although not of great market value, they hold a special place for me like, Alfred North Whiteheads "Adventure of Idea". My wife gave me a later signed first edition of the Bourne Identity awhile back and have all the first hardbounds of Richard Bach that he signed for me at a signing I attended. The feel and smell, the bindings and graphics give me pause sometimes. I'm an old used/book store junky...along with tools of course!

Thanks again...Fascinating craft being carried on!

You are right, Frank S. The beauty of a rifle is the walnut and blue steel. That is my own personal opinion. Camo has it's place on the battle field for a reason. Dip coating is interesting technology. Who knows; maybe one of these days the younger generation will get dip coated instead of getting tatooed.

Rofl Don't give them any ideas I have attended some trade shows where vendors would try various carny tricks to get folks to spend time at their booth Like a woman so flexable that she could almost tie herself into a knot while standing on a gate valve. another had a young woman standing like a manikin wearing 3 post it stickers while her whole body was spray painted by the time the guy was finished painting she had even lost the postits then she roamed around the trade show wearing only paint.
Dipping them will be next LOL
