Installing the Drive Shaft on a Horizontal/Vertical Rotary Table

Recently I had reason to pull the drive shaft from my Horizontal/Vertical rotary table. That was the easy part. But then I had to reinstall it. This article describes the steps to accomplish this task.

    Thanks Rick
I don't have a mill but enjoyed reading about trip with yours.
By the way I remember coming across an article by you on another forum about making split collets with full strength silicone.
I have made a set for my lathe on these lines and they work brilliantly, They work as an ER type and have lasted a couple of years now.
    Many thanks

    Olderdan,

Glad you found the article entertaining. As I was writing it I was thinking that maybe one other person, someday, would actually need to know this stuff. But it was fun to write it up.

Great to hear you had luck with those home made collets (http://rick.sparber.org/mfc.pdf). Sure saves a lot of money and I found them satisfying to make.

    Peace,

    Rick
