Hi, all. Let me introduce myself. I'm an intermediate level woodworker that has bee dabbling in it for 30/40 years. I retired in January 2009 and I make stuff to sell to supplement my income to buy more and/or better tools. I retired from the USN in 1985 as a Radioman Chief Petty Officer (Submarines).
Started my Navy career on-board USS Damato DD871 as an RMSA. On the "Crash" Crew as RMSN(SS),on-board USS Simon Bolivar, Overhaul of '69 USS Henry Clay, First ERP ever on an SSBN while aboard James Madison (Holy Loch, Scotland), First ERP at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base, GA on USS Francis Scott Key. Commissioned MOTU14 Kings Bay. Retired December 1985 as RMC(SS).
Upon retirement from the US Navy, I took a temporary job as a police officer in St. Marys, Ga. Twenty five years later, I became the second officer that ever retired from the Police Department in St. Marys.
After working my way through the ranks, I achieved the rank of Captain. In 2002 the City Manager realigned the police department in an attempt to save money and did away with the ranks of Captain and Major. The highest rank left in the department at that time, besides the Chief of Police was then a Lieutenant. I was dropped back to the rank of Lieutenant and given the title of Administrative Commander of the department.
Retired 20 Jan 2009 with 25 years service to the public. This time for good unless handing out shopping carts at Wal-Mart counts as being employed.
