Lathe Boring Head
A small boring for the lathe made many years ago and has performed very well.
It can be easily made on the lathe from M/S as was this one, and as I had a 100 div dial going spare I used a 20 tpi feed screw giving direct reading on diameters, and although it has a No3 MT shank I mostly use it in the 3 jaw for one off jobs.
The top plates are gauge plate and the slide is hand fitted to give a tight slide fit. The largest bore it has dealt with was 4 inches with no trouble.
Plans are retro drawn with a few basic dimensions as I tend to make thing up as I go, depending on what I can find and make use of, after many years of working to drawings I find this approach more enjoyable.Attachment 13227Attachment 13228Attachment 13229Attachment 13230Attachment 13231Attachment 13232
