A lathe I made
I've made a few lathes. This one is the most involved of the bunch. There are over 100 tapped holes in it. It is just about solid steel. Yadda, yadda, yadda. Yeah, I'm done making lathes at this point. I have far more time invested in making this machine than I ever spent using it. Today it is buried under a pile of junk. Isn't everyone's wood lathe?

Nice home brew lathe. Looks like it can do some serious turning and I like the "Delta" blue color.
Reminds me of a lathe my Dad made just prior to WWII. It was all wood. Heavy wood beams for the bed and heavier wood for the legs. Only metal was the spindle, pulleys and motor! When I was young I thought he was a genius. When I got older I knew he was.
Best Tool and Die Maker in Ohio.
Cheers, JR

I need to get real bearings, and a bigger spindle for it someday. I am not much of a turner though.
