Looking for smart (inexpensive) ways to do tricky & unusual tasks

I have a broad interest in the whole Maker/DIY approach. Like most such people, I am also constrained by a modest budget. Currently I am interested in simple heat engines (like the Stirling engine) and electric generators. I am particularly focused on designing "appropriate technology" suitable for use in developing countries, especially in eastern Africa. Homemade tools are at the heart of this approach. I very much appreciate creative re-purposing of found technology and materials. I am looking forward to digging through your rather sizable collection of material!

    Hi WileEQuixote,

    Welcome!

I like the idea of repurposing found materials - what have you built along those lines?

If you find yourself building a Stirling engine, please do share some pics; lots of us would love to look over your shoulder on that project!
