I cringe every time I watch them messing with molten Al in bare feet :flame:
I'm wondering if wheels contain any kinds of toxic additives that would come out when cooking?
Aluminum dishes are not healthy :agree: But their skill is obvious.
I was thinking more along the lines that car wheels can't be made from pure aluminium because it is too soft. So what else is in the alloy.
I agree, impressive results though.
Aluminum is and probably will be for a very long time one of the most recycled materials of modern man.
Liquid beverages are consumed from aluminum containers around the world every day and people do not think twice about the possible health risks.
I say possible since although it may well be that aluminum does possibly leach into foods when being cooked in this metal the amount is very little. Even for high acidic foods like tomato sauce it has been studied and found to be only a very few mg. Consuming an aspirin daily like many do believing that reduces their chances of heart disease or strokes might actually contain as much aluminum as someone might absorb from food prepared in an alum. pot. Antacids many over the counter and a lot o prescription drugs contain aluminum which when consumed is accumulative in the body However if their kidneys are functioning properly many toxins ingested will be washed away
Many if not most residual toxins from impurities in alloy wheels while being melted would most probably be burned away and anyone who has ever melted any aluminum for making castings know that there is a lot of stuff that rises to the top and gets skimmed away.
Since the dawn of man's first discovery of melting the minerals out of rock to make metals we have found ways to use these metals to make life easier. Some metals are better suited for making cooking pots than others Think about the era of pewter
Working barefoot of wearing sandals is common in far more countries than closed toe shoes.
I would like to see them fettling the castings. No doubt a lesson on using cheap tools and substitutes for expensive finishing tools and material.
Aluminium drink cans have a coating on the inside. The contents are not in direct contact with the ally can. I would imagine that food products are similar
