Man hit in face by snapping cable when sawing log - GIF

Man hit in face by snapping cable when sawing log. Surprisingly, the guy actually looks like he wasn't hurt too bad, but this is an interesting one to file under why we don't cut stuff under tension. Sad that there were professional firefighters standing by watching this happen.

It appears that there's a diagonal chain/cable attached to the jumping log prior to him completing the cut... it obviously had a load of tension on it... not sure why they did that.

    Natural selection in operation.
If you can't make it precise make it adjustable.

That may have been a highline wire downed by the log
Never try to tell me it can't be done

Everyone's a genius when the accident happens to someone else.

I think the cable actually got him in the right arm. The log looks like it was moving away from his head. As a Safety Manager, all accidents are preventable for you or someone else, no genius involved, just some common sense and reasonable precautions. Everyone is in too much of a hurry to worry about safety, until it kills them.

With all those people present, believe me, someone worried about safety. People make mistakes.

I know this one is old.

    1. Looks like a power line under a tree and did not break the line. Don't know why they do the partial cut.
    2. Firefighter (can't tell if full time or volunteer) should have kept people away by distance of 1 complete section between poles.
    3. The sawman should have been on the otherside away from the cable to the videos left.
    4. These are the most dangerous cables to cut and no good way to do so.
