I do not know anyone that said it more eloquent and spot on. It is all about what you do with time, at the end of the day what do you have to show for it. I can not agree more about TV and any of those things that get in our heads and make us miserable. Life it too good to waste it especially if you have a shop. My wife learned a long time ago I do not like TV and will do anything to get out of it. We have a good relationship and I have a lot of shop time.

Some people, like me, are also wired to benefit greatly from a formal productivity system like Getting Things Done, especially with a software implementation like Nirvana.

We had very strict limits on our television watching as children. It's one of those things you resent your parents for as a child, but are deeply grateful for as an adult.

MY wife has this really nice although small by today's standards 54" smart TV I get a thrill out of using the Bluetooth or the wifi feature to connect to my computer then when a commercial comes on I sometimes link in and will show her some drawings that I am working on then sometimes I forget to sever the link after a few minutes causing her to miss out on whatever program she was trying to watch. That will be about the time when she heads off to the bed room to watch TV
She gets aggravated at me sometimes and says that her television it not there for my enjoyment it is for her's
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

Unfortunately TV earned a bad name for widespread distribution of video recordings. On the one hand, while we don't have "a TV" in our house, I watch YouTube DIY vids every day, and consider it a productive use of my time. The American Academy of Pediatrics has even revised their recommended screen time rules to account for desirable screen watching, and to highlight the need for adults to act as media mentors. This is in contrast to a previous paradigm in which they had to fight the habit of allowing children to park themselves in front of cartoons for hours, which we now know cultivated a lifetime screen addiction.

Saw this, and then looked it up, and I see it listed on Ian's Shoelace Site as well. Pulled from an old declassified CIA manual - shoe lacing technique used as a spy signaling method:
