I spent some time in the Royal Engineers where I trained as a machinist, then spent time building bridges and blowing things up etc. Then 25 years in a scrap metal yard mostly driving cranes or using a gas-axe. After that about 15 years blacksmithing. So I can have a go at most things. Though electronics is still a dark art to me.
