Nice Resto work and Nice Scraping on the ways Darkoford and really liked the long carriage. Was this some kind of tool room lathe with ways like that?
Looking forward to seeing your end CNC results.
Thank PJs.
Hand Scraping is a vacation of my nerves
For CNC I have to make a plan and get the material.
This lathe was used for the manufacture of electric motors.
Roger That! I hear you, it's like Zen to me too as well as lapping and polishing!
Interesting lathe use, as years ago as a wrench (specialty carb/electric shop) I used to use a lathe for doing bus/car/truck starter motor and old generator rebuilds for the same thing...turn/cleanup and scrape the buildup out of the slots on the commutators. Also to clean up the bearing surface with fine emery. Too Cool!
Look forward to your build!
PJ
You have to try a Scraping.

I built this Multi-function Scraping Tool a few years ago and used it some but started with HS tools before this. There is a Zen to it and I personally love doing the metrology just as much, as icing to the cake.
