    Miniature Craftsmanship Museum

These pictures I am posting are from the Craftsmanship Museum located in
Vista, California. Just a hop skip and jump from the beach at Carlsbad.
While we had been to Carlsbad many times I never knew about this Museum until
my wife found it with a google search. What a find. Miniature working models of
    just about everything.

Here is a link to most of the pictures I took while in the museum.
unfortunately I did not have a polarizer with me so there is glare
    in the pictures under glass.

Link direct to the museum. Items are organized by builder.

    Exceptional Craftsmanship

    The Miniature Engineering
    Craftsmanship Museum

This car is amazing. When you are there you can view the under carriage and
    see the transmission,differential,exhaust, etc.

FEATURED PERMANENT EXHIBIT! Louis Chenot's 1/6 scale model 1932 Duesenberg SJ.

    • Without doubt, the finest automotive model ever made
    • 10 years, 20,000 hours and over 6000 custom made parts
    • Now on permanent display at the Carlsbad Craftsmanship Museum

ALSO JUST ADDED—10 engines by famed craftsman Phillip Duclos
AND MORE...A prototype supercharged rotary auto engine by Peter Grunstra
AND EVEN MORE...Check out the Birk Petersen Collection--over 150 items built by one extraordinary craftsman.

Here are a few of the pictures that I took while there.
By the way the Sherline factory and showroom are about .7 of a mile from the museum.

The Craftsmanship Museum is an absolute must-see for anyone intrigued by handmade working miniatures. If you're in the area make a day of it. Visit the museum in the morning, have a great lunch at the nearby deli...

Tip Top Meats | European Eatery, Meat Market, Catering and Deli

and spend the afternoon touring the Antique Gas And Steam Engine museum...

    AGSEM

in nearby Vista, California. There you'll find acres of interesting stuff including operating antique steam and gasoline engines, working steam road engines and a functioning blacksmithing shop including forges and line shaft driven machinery.

Thanks Marv, I now have a few more way points to add to my gps.
Your link for AGSEM is another place for me to visit when I go back to Carlsbad and
take in more of the Craftsmanship Museum. Getting hungry already.

One of the engines featured at AGSEM is a monstrous Corliss rescued from an old sugar mill. On steaming days they run it and it's a real treat to watch.

That place looks awesome! I emailed it to my wife so we can plan a future vacation around that location. I could care less about the beach, but a good museum with great stuff like that, sign me up!
    Thanks for sharing!

If you're planning a several days get-away, nearby San Diego has the Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park...

San Diego Air & Space Museum - Historical Balboa Park, San Diego

Also nearby in Balboa Park is the San Diego Model Railroad Museum...

    https://www.balboapark.org/museums/model-railroad

The main feature of Balboa Park, not a gearhead attraction but, still worth a visit is the San Diego Zoo, one of the five largest in the USA...

    San Diego Zoo

At 100 acres and very hilly, I recommend buying tickets for the hop-on, hop-off shuttles that circulate through the beautifully landscaped displays.

Yes indeed. We have been to the Air and Space museum and the Model Railroad museum but it has been
at least 10 years ago. We are planning another So Cal vacation which will include Balboa Park and all
of its features in the not too distant future. ( of course Carlsbad museums will be on the list as well)

Now all I need is a good place to buy brass,aluminum,1L14,and some cast iron.

Sorry to have preached to the choir. Oh well, perhaps some other readers will benefit from the information.
