I have not responded to this build yet, I've been waiting to to see it evolve a little bit more. I have one question and that is, the flat belt? Would have it been better going with a round belt instead of flat. I truly enjoy the idea of a bookshelf piece but yet a functioning unit. The reason I mentioned that is I have been looking at my toys and thing that I enjoy working on will one day be someone else's. I just hope they enjoy as much as I did. I always like the detail you invest in everything, you can be proud of it all.
Thank you so much for sharing with us all.
Nelson
Thank You Nelson
I chose a flat belt because in the old days everything ran on flat belts off of an overhead line shaft, trying to keep it like an older machine if you know what I mean, I did consider at first a round belt, but that changed LOL, fortunately enough I have a son who will remember and appreciate old dad and all the long hard hours he spent dreaming, drawing and making these things.
I'll post more as the project comes together.
Thanks Nelson

Thanks rossbotics! We've added your Miniature Lathe Build to our Lathes category,
as well as to your builder page: rossbotics's Homemade Tools. Your receipt:
rossbotics,
I will take your advice and look into a Mitutoyo Digital Caliper . I often have trouble parting with money, but what the heck-I can't take it with me!

Old Toolmaker - is that a quorn for your icon? Your build or stock photo? If the former, do you have a thread discussing your build? Yet?
Ross - beautiful lathe! How did you grind the ways? Do you have, or have access to, a surface grinder, or did you use some other equipment?

N00b Machinist,
The Quorn pictured on my signature page was built by me over a period of about 12 years. I do have a build page. I will try to find it for you and I will get back to you.
Thanks for asking!
