Mobile carpenters bench
I made this last year after I found I needed work space for assembly and for holding pieces.
The bench has a 2" thick solid laminated maple top with 1 line of square dawg holes, a 4" deep tool well and a removable / reversible butt stop. I added a double vise with a large opening at the end and a smaller one (advanced by the same screw) on the side.
The cabinet portion has 4 large full extension drawers and I keep most of my finer tools / router and planes in each drawer.
I custom made a number of square dawgs.
This is one of my most treasured pieces in my small shop. By the way if anyone has noticed a trend, it too is the height of the bench, tablesaw and other tool stands so it can be wheeled over in position to serve as an accessory table surface.

Hi,
Very well designed, and good looking.
this is typically the kind of bench you can be proud to be the only one to own, how original it is ...
Professional bench makers should think about such compact but functional bench.

Love the bench
I would be too scared to use it in case I scratched it or something - that looks good enough to put in my lounge room, well done.

While most crafted benches are cherished, there is no doubt it is well used. I used coloured wax on the top and it shows me where I have marked it or where glue as been dripped, but because of the wax coating glue doesn't stick to the top and only takes a light scraping wth a card scraper to remove any marks.
One of the things I appreciate the most is that I hand planed the top - something I hadn't tried before. When I was done it was flat and true. I considered that an accomplishment.

I'd say you have accomplished your aims very well. The whole design is magnificent.

Hey Powless Design, that's a great mobile workbench. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Powless Design,
Beautiful looking workbench and I really like the cock beading around the drawer fronts and the twin raised panels on the cabinet sides. These details add so much to making the workbench very special.
Thank you for the great photos and inspiring design,
Paul
