If you could weight the wooden gearshift knob that could work really well. I have made one before, it had a good shape but it didn't throw as well as a heavier knob. Maybe drill it out and fill it with lead like they did with baseball bats?

Interesting idea. I'm using a rod-shift G50 transaxle, so there's going to be enough friction in the system that I'm not sure I'd even notice the weight of the knob.

Great work as usual, Christophe. Interesting that they used cannonballs back then. Didn't you consider a bowling ball for your build?

    Hi Paul, tanks !
Yes, I saw some bowl vises made with bowling balls, but they are bigger by far. Even mine(20cm diameter) is quite too large, compared to the commercial versions.
    Cheers !

    Beefy, no?

They're designed to stop from well over 200 MPH. This car has put up tremendous numbers in all the usual performance categories including 0-100-0. Great brakes!
