    Need advice about cloak cape

    Hi all!
I'm trying to build a "tabarro" , a long coat made by heavy wool, full wheel pattern.

I'm searching for cloack cape, with chain. I only found bad replicas plated or expensive old one.
I'm thinking about DIY, the basic way I think should be a slice of brass hammered, retaining dots brazed, with a sort of engraving. The chain would be made cutting a coil of brass wire.
Another way could be melting (silver?). I have no experience in this practice.

I thank you in advance for giving me advice.

Ps: that's the 100% wool, up to 500grams/m, D&G origin. I bought 6 linear meters.

Hmm, I'd try haberdasery dept in material store, often there's large metal buttons available. Alternatively perhaps coins would look good for the task. Source some brass or silver wire then twist it around a rod then cut lengthways to make links. Maybe a jewelers supplies for the catch/clip would supply what u need, even a hardware store might have a sutiable catch.

Another lead goes to suppliers of reenactment clothing. Watch for those declaring 'costume' instead of 'period' and similar terms. Mention 'Costume' to any reenactor and you see why.
No time of history is without distinctive appearance, and those wishing to partcipate. Even in the States, we have Vikings, Renaissance characters, Boers, Victorian boulevardiers, you name it. Civil War and that of Independence are huge. Here finding the 'right' stuff is uncommon in retail, various reasons why. Targeting which century must be part of it.
All required is deciding what period appeals to you, all of it is online.
