    Noga knockoff repair

These little Noga knock offs from eBay are pretty good units once you get them up to standards.

Problem 1. Dovetail does not fit any of my DTIs.
Solution Used a small triangle file to make the darn thing fit my indicator dovetails.
Only takes 10 minutes to complete. You can of course use the round hole to
hold a rod with a dovetail swivel attached for your DTI.

Problem 2. Base of indicator is not flat.
Solution Use a flat stone to flatten it. I used an oil stone first and finished with a 1500 grit diamond brick and it only took about
15 minutes to flatten it. The magnet is not super strong but it holds a small indicator quite well.

Over all I think the price is right and well worth the little effort required to get them into shape.

    Cheers, JR

Is it against policy to link to the vendor. I'm wondering if you are ordering directly from China, alibaba maybe?

What? Where is there a link to a vendor?
    What policy is being broken?
These are available on line from a bunch of suppliers.

To clarify, you're welcome to link to the vendor here - in fact we encourage it. You can also link to another forum, or post, or any other social media, or whatever. We simply haven't had enough issues here over the years to justify any linking restrictions.

Thanks for clearing that up Jon, I did not think there were restrictions on that but I am not one to break the rules.

The knockoff I bought broke before it was two weeks old. Through all the upper in the trash and still use the base.
Not worth my money, but that is what you get for buying cheap. I also bough a cheap QCTP and made of aluminium it is worthless.
You get what you pay for.

I haveny had any issues with my mag bases. but yes the alunimum qctp's are almost junk...well a little more than almost..I think there made out of the rong aluminum..and..probably should of been made from a cheep cast iron or somethen else.just look at all the cast iron trinkets you can buy for $2. or less...I reckon a 6061 t5 or t6 may of worked beterthan what it is now, but still just for light duty work. cast iron would be cheep and eazy to machine.in production. of corse for the handy guy with some steel on hand can copy it...and upgrade it too.
