    Oil applicator

Why would anyone cut the foot from an old sock, roll it into a cylinder, and stuff it into an old medication container that's been de-child-proofed?

Carbon steel tools and firearms should be lightly oiled prior to storage. Once the sock is saturated with oil this applicator will apply the oil while keeping your hands clean. After use, cap it and it can be stored in your tool or range bag without getting everything nearby soaked with oil.

Which oil? 3-in-1 can leave a residue when dried, Hoppe's firearm oil works well but turbine oil is cheaper and also leaves no residue.

I intend to make another one soaked with chainsaw bar oil and use it for grosser tools such as machetes, axes, gardening tools, etc..

These containers are useful for lots of things. Dryer lint for starting camp fires is one. Use your imagination.
