just got an old drill press with no drill depth stop. going to see if i can fit one on with the tips that are on this site. let u know how it works out with details later.:

If your DP doesn't have a rod and you intend to make one, it's best that you use a 1/2-20 threaded rod. This is a nominal industry standard and, if you use it, you'll be able to use the commercial stops that are made for same. One of these is shown in the last picture on the referenced thread.
The Cadillac of stops is the push-button style shown here...

Pricey, but elegant. If you intend to use something like that note that the diameter is 1.5" so allow enough room around your depth rod to accommodate it.
