One man auto hood remover tool (and how to remove a truck from a hood) :)

    One man hood remover tool:

This is modeled after one I saw on youtube that a company sells so I can't take design/idea credit for it. I'd rather make my own stuff and I like doing everything myself, hate asking for help when working on my cars/trucks. I used it a few times so far and it works great! It simply bolts into your engine crane where the chain normally would be. When not in use, it folds up too!

And now: How to remove a "truck from a hood": (since anybody can remove a hood from a truck) lol

Photo/step 1: Position one man hood remover in place and put a little upward pressure on it. Remove all hood bolts.

Photo/step 2: Tilt hood back and tie in that position.

Photo/step 3: Remove truck. (you could leave the truck and roll the hoist if you prefer)

Great adaptation, from an advertisement! That's their problem, can't sell a description nearly well as pictorial version. Ripe invitation to all fabber's out there.

Most buyers find real difficulty in removing a truck from a hood to be
first getting it off cinder blocks. . .
    Sincerely,

....I could have used that in 1974, when trying to remove the hood of my 55 Chev truck...I ended up disconnecting the hinges and sliding over the front on 2 2x 6 planks...Cheers

there have been times when I used a 5 ton overhead crane to remove the hood.
This device would really fit the bill for times when working alone (nearly always)
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

Great idea I haven't seen or heard of this before. We are a touch behind in Australia. I am partially disabled and it will help me without relying on someone to come and give me a hand. Lol I am starting to make one now.

Thanks! I've used it MANY times so far and it's a gem! The only thing I would do differently is perhaps beef it up a bit. I was sticking closely to the one in the video when I built this one. I think I would change the angle iron to square tube but it does function as is. I've put full size truck hoods (67-72 Chevy) on it a few times.
