Nice tools. I foresee myself making a QCTP in the near future. Tell me about your treadmill motor conversion. What is your power supply and what are you using to control the speed?

thanks, there are a lot of different QCTP plans out there, so I'm sure you'll find one that suits.
here's the write up on my treadmill motor upgrade. I can't post on HM any more, so if you have any Qs post them up here. I'd recommend it to anyone, variable speed is the best upgrade you can do on a machine tool in my opinion link.
Nice write up on the DP upgrade, Matt. Enjoyed some of the humor and trials and tribulations you fought through. Great job! Thanks for sharing it here!! ~PJQuote:

thanks PJ! That was my 2nd treadmill upgrade (put one on my Atlas 618) so some things like the wiring were quicker, but there were plenty of other things to sort out that kept me thinking. I also found out that I can, just, swing 7in on my lathe :)
Finished some more holders last night, this time out of aluminium. Did power tapping in the DP and used a roll form tap, both for the 1st time, which saved me a HUGE amount of time. These holders are all for smaller or more rarely used tools - couple of form tools, threading tool, 8mm SCLR turning/ facing tool and a 6mm boring bar. Need to make a holder to hang them up on the wall and finish the tool holder for my dremel then I should be done with tool holders for a while. Then it's onto the next project!

already developing the muscle memory for the more commonly used holders! Tried my new SCLR turning tool with CCGT insert yesterday, when I was making the rotary tool holder nut, and I was seriously impressed. Lovely finish. The CCGT insert that I put in my 3/8in boring bar also gave a much nicer finish than the CCMT insert that it came with.
Ok, I'm jealous now. That is a serious set of holders! Interesting idea on the rotary tool holder. Nice Job Matt and thanks for the info on CCGT!
that's very kind PJ, thank you. I'm looking forward to trying out the grinder - the last time I used an extension zip tied to a boring bar, which wasn't the most rigid set up. I need to grind the taper in my homemade ER25 collet chuck, the jaws on my 3 jaw and the tip of a live center, so I should get a good feel if it works well or not.
