I saw one in the museum at the old White's truck stop in Va. He had a lot of early weapons I would have liked to own

One way it could have been improved would to have curved the blade. Other than inflicting a little pain straight pointed blades are of little use stabbing wounds are seldom applied with enough force to inflict much damage but a curved blade used in a slashing motion does not require a lot of power behind the blade to crate deep gaping wounds that sever many blood vessels and can be deadly if a slash is done in the right place or incapacitating at the very least.
The hook of a curved blade across the stomach will pull itself deeper as it goes across and can disembowel an attacker or when pulled over the shoulder it can sever the muscle and tendons and leave their arm limp and useless. A retreating slash in the upper thigh near the groin can leave them with minutes to live.just to name a few.
Their is only 1 reason to ever be in a hand to hand situation, if you can't run away be the sole survivor
