Hello,
Just checking my understanding of these tools.
Does a grub screw hold the shank of the end mill and a drawbar hold the morse taper in a socket ?
Is the grub screw sufficient to stop the end mill "walkin" out of the holder ? Does the grub screw simply grip a flat on the end mill ?
I suppose you could also have the grub screw pushing a plug in front of it with a curve cut into the nose that matches the radius of the shank-hole and there fore sits snugly against the shank ?
Bill
Hi,steamingbill, to answer your question yes the draw bar and grub screw secure the holder and end mill in place, the end mill has a flat cut into it.
Anytime i see a grub screw i assume that their is a flat as with out a flat it is almost useless.
Thanks for your question and a good one too...:O)
After I made them I found a deal on ebay for a 1/2: and 3/8 " end mill holders for cheep so I don't use them much any more except for the smaller ones. I found a longer shaft was better for my machine.
