alihureiby,
I don't have a video that shows how it works at this time. Perhaps I should make a video. The Unimat DB200 in skilled hands equipped with the proper tooling is capable of building this Small Quick Change Tool Post. I would suggest making it from aluminum and hard anodizing it for long term use. It can also be made from steel but will be slower machining. Of course, if you have larger equipment available it will go much faster. Good work can definitely be done on the Unimat though.

really nice,
i already order it , hope i can make it by only in unimat (lathe and milling attachment) ,

i love the idea of original hardinge L18 QCTP.
Hardinge L18 QCTP the brand new cost US$4000. crazy. not sure their size dimension,
but for sherline-taig-unimat world this size is quite nice.

alihureiby,
I agree, the price of a Hardinge QC tool post is way too much money at $4000 a copy. It is a very good design though. The original Hardinge is way too large for the little Unimat DB200. My design is much smaller and you can build other attachments to use with it such as boring bar holders, V-block for cross drilling, vertical slide for milling, etc. Your imagination is the only limit to what can be added to it.

what mods that have you done to your unimat lathe?
-
alihureiby,
The only thing I have done is mount the Unimat DB200 to a 1/2" x 10" x 24" aluminum base plate and mounted a vertical milling post behind the bed. That way I do not need to remove the headstock to mount the vertical column. I have 2 headstocks each with their own motor and spindle.

I edited my original post to include a picture of this Quick Change Tool Post featured on the front cover of model Engineers Workshop.

alihureiby,
I am late in answering your question, but yes, it can be built using only the Unimat with the mill attachment.

Dick,
It is a beautiful piece of work! Do you see any issue in building a bigger version for my 14"x48" Rockwell and 16x54" ATWPacemaker lathes? Figure either double everything or increase almost everything by a set multiplyer. I have a bridgeport clone for the milling and I think i might already have a dovetail cutter or two... I've been trying to decide between purchasing a CXA 300 type toolpost or a 40 Position E series
But I then see yours and find it very attractive. Any thoughts?

JeffEck,
My Small QC Tool Post Is easy to build and is a scaled down version of the Hardinge.
It can easily be scaled up to suit your needs.
