Stanley 55 Saw Plane (Kerfing Plane)
If you have a Stanley 55 or 45 plane, here is a simple method of creating a kerf to guide hand saw ripping or to make the male portion of a sliding dovetail. The Stanley 55, having dual fences, will give more accurate cuts than the Stanley 45, which only has a single fence. All you need to do is to drill two holes into a leftover saw blade to fit the saw onto the two rods of the plane. The fence angle can be adjusted to allow for cutting at different angles.
