Swash plate engine

This is another one of Elmer Verburg's designs. The valve actuator is a swash plate mounted on the crankshaft. It drives a pivoted lever which, in turn, drives the piston valve in the steam chest on the top of the cylinder.

Construction of the swash plate element was somewhat fiddly and I had to design a jig to hold everything in the right orientation while it was soldered.

The engine, with its unusual "monkey motion" draws lots of attention at shows.

Interesting use of swash plate to control input valve.

I looked through all your engine models. I like the "Wanklelike", with eccentric piston and oscillating cylinder. I can see the exhaust port, on the eccentric, I'm guessing the input port on the backside uses some other porting on the eccentric as well acting as an flow control valve for the compressed air inlet.
