Tree-assisted plane landing - GIF

When you're trying to find a spot in a crowded parking lot, and a good one opens up:



I've actually heard this tactic recommended by old pilots: if you have to put the plane down in a forest, try to fly between two trees. If it works, the trees flex to absorb your speed, chop off your wings, then you just plop gently to the ground.

And if you hit too low the trees just chop off your wings then you skid off the cliff that you didn't know was there

Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing..... Did the pilot try to land on the road to the right, saw the car approaching and tried to make it down the parking lot or did he purposely fly into the tree? It seems like his motor was still running from the foliage that sprays to the left of the tree. Whatever it was, I cannot see it not being an emergency.

Found some more. 1981 C172 N54463. Piloted by 79-year-old Manfred Frost, who suffered only minor injuries. Occurred just last Monday in Plainville, CT. Apparently he veered off course while doing touch-and-gos at Robertson Field Airport, and crashed into a nearby parking lot. FAA preliminary incident report:

Once while in Australia flying with a mate of mine having a good look at the interior his 172 started coughing and sputtering we were getting lower and lower to the ground. flying along a dirt highway. that the road trains used we were both pulling as hard as we could on the yolk he was pushing and pulling every knob and manual pump lever in there was I have no idea how slow we were flying if flying could even be a descriptive word at that point. when a road train passed us if we had been a few feet lower we could have hitched a ride, just about then the engine made it's last wheeze then we almost fell the last few feet to the ground and rolled to a stop.
The Truckie stopped his rig and walked back to see if we needed any assistance. Turned out to be a couple of clogged filters and bad gas was the only problem borrowed 40 liters of the driver's generator gas cleaned the filters then Flew on to the next place to get fuel
