    Versatile Small Angle Plate

Here is a small, "home built", but very versatile toolmaker's angle plate I have had for many years. The size is 2-1/2" square on all sides with legs 1/2" thick. There is a pair of T-slots in both faces which accept Unimat T-bolts and nuts. You will note the two 45 degree beveled edges which allow holding the unit on a magnetic chuck at 45 degrees which is very handy for milling or grinding 45 degree angled features. Two intersecting V-grooves are provided at right angles which is handy for a multitude of opperations. Various fixtures can be made as required to hold components as needed. This has been my go to angle plate for all kinds of projects for ages and I would not want to be without it.
Feel free to ask any questions!

    old_toolmaker,
What kind of material was used to make this terrific tool. Was it some hot rolled steel angle or something a little more exotic. This sure looks like it would be a useful addition to the shop. Would you have any sketches of this device? Thanks for sharing.

    Shelly142,

The material used was hot rolled steel. The piece was sawn from a solid block to rough shape and finished milled to within .01" per side. It was then case hardened and surface ground to size on all flat surfaces. I don't have a drawing of it anymore but I might make a 2-D CAD detailed drawing soon.
    Thank you for asking!
