Nice Job... :)
Hi,
I have the same, can you explain why you did so ? The handles for instance ?
Thanks capainleeward! I've added your Vise Handle Modification to our Vises and Metalworking categories, as well as to your builder page: capainleeward's Homemade Tools. Your receipt:

Hi Christophe, I don't like sloppy lead screws so I replaced the mounting triangle plate then I made weighted turn handles for easier turning, the jaws were marring my work pieces so I put aluminum jaws on, and I wanted to lock the vise so I installed long shaft thumb tighteners for repeatability. :O)Attachment 2207
Nice job there, capainleeward! That little figurine seems to be on the way to becoming your signature. :)
Yes he is a good friend of mine. doesn't eat much either.

Hi,
what I don't like on these cheap Chinese vices, is the difficulty to setup properly the slides, and the bad quality set-screws they put on that.
But it's really cheap, I must admit...
Hi Christophe, I have bought Chinese machines for the past ten years, each time I get one I modify it until it is worthy of a good
job. People who say these machines are no good must not know how to modify in fact many people in the US enjoy modifying these machines and have whole clubs that teach each other how to mod many of them . In my ten years working with them I have build many other machines that work and allow me to keep my shop machine ready for any project I desire.
Most middle class citizens cannot afford to buy American machinery because of the price. I am sure you know this.
I have been able to teach my self the art of machining and layout because of the great low prices of Chinese products.
and the plus factor is to take a machine that needs some mods and convert it to one that is useable.
So my friend mod each and every machine you have. :O)Attachment 2234
Hi Captain, I 200% agree and of course do the same, when I say I don't like, it's not so much of a criticism, it just meant it's what has to be addressed.
Obviously, as you say, I wouldn't have the shop I have if I had to purchase everything at the Western made price...
And obviously also, you can have more and more often good surprises with made in RPC quality... (thought the price is getting sometimes higher also).
